I love exploring the “littoral zone,” the area of the shoreline between the lowest low tide and the highest high tide. The shoreline brings water and earth together, the shifting life and death cycle of the ocean gathers here.
Oysters are fascinating to me, with endless combinations of color and value, texture and line. Painting them turned into a meditative process, like beachcombing, with each oyster revealing its secrets as I looked from different points of view, like a spinning mandala.
